before and after

Hello! My name is Reyna. Welcome to my blog!

I hope you will stay awhile and check out this amazing journey I’ve been on. The picture on the left was me in 2001. I was only 20 years old. It was taken nearly 16 years ago right before I underwent RNY gastric bypass surgery. After my surgery, I not only continued to struggle with my weight but my overall health and immune system started to diminish more and more, year after year. I knew the surgery would make me lose weight, I had no idea it would also make me lose my health. Suddenly I went from worrying about what weight I was to worrying about when I might end up in the hospital again.

I started reading books, doing research, watching documentaries and listened to the testimonies of people who had radical healing in their lives. That’s when I knew.

After years of battling my weight I finally figured out what I needed to get my health back.

A whole-foods, plant based diet.

Once I fully committed to a whole-foods, plant based diet my whole world began to change for the better. I am now full of energy, my skin and hair are radiant and the weight stays off effortlessly.

I want to share my journey with you. I want to show those of you who’ve had bariatric surgery that it is not only possible to thrive on a whole-foods, plant based diet but it’s the ideal way of living life to reach optimal health!

Change can be hard. But its much harder living a life of suffering and dying before your time from preventable causes. You have to choose what kind of hard you’re willing to live with.

I’ve made my choice.

Come with me as I share my changes, challenges and victories mastering this way of life. I will share recipes that my husband and two small boys love and anything and everything else in between.

Remember, at the end of the day, YOU ARE WORTH IT!!

Hi. This is awesome!!! Way to go!! I had RNY 12 yrs ago have been vegan for 4. Still not feeling so great. Could you please recommend some vegan barriatric vitamins? I can’t seem to find any. I am not very over weight. I am just very exhausted. Dr. says I have chronic fatigue syndrome. But she rarely checks my blood levels of vitamins and to be honest I don’t take any. I know I should. Not sure what to take. Have taken Deva Vegan Vitamins in the past. Can’t seem to find anything that is barriatric and vegan. Thanks! Rebecca

I am looking for information to pass along to a relative who recently had this surgery. There is so far no plant based foods in her diet (still in the puréed stage). I would like to offer her some info that she can choose healthier foods than eggs, chicken, yogurt & cheese. Any advice would be helpful, thank you.

    1. Hello J,
I know that there are plant based nutrition powder out there that are awesome. Vega is a great brand. Smoothies with fruit and veggies are a great option as well as tofu. Scrambled tofu is a really great way to get use to it if she’s never had it. It will take on the flavor of whatever you cook it with. Check out my blog that was posted by Tosca Reno. I shared my Tofu Scrambled Eggs recipe there. It’s amazing! Best wishes to her and if I can be of any help. Let me know. So sorry for the late response. I have gone back to school full time and have neglected my beautiful blog. I desperately need to get back to blogging.
